With COVID-19 challenging many industries with tasks surrounding social distancing and clean hygiene, the world is following in their path. Out with the old and in with the new is the mantra of this year. Now, we’re seeking to fully leap forward into the future and all it can bring. This pandemic is forcing us to speed up the technological boom like no other, including vaccine development. In the beauty, wellness, and fashion spaces, the challenge is also not being able to fully crowd a room with assistants, producers, models, and more to shoot ad campaigns for products. Brands have gotten innovative with Zoom and influencer partnerships, but one company is taking it even further. Where is the one place that COVID doesn’t exist? Space.
The space race won by Russia in the ’60s was to be the first-ever country to be in space. Another kind of space race will be won by none other than Estée Lauder, as the brand will also become the first-ever beauty company to shoot a campaign in space. They will send 10 bottles of hyaluronic or HA serum up and into our universe. Will aliens and astronauts get rid of dry skin and dehydration? Time can only tell. Us on Earth can tell you, it’s a best seller for a reason.
Estée Lauder’s Space Photoshoot
The brand’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex will accompany other necessities to the International Space Station in a resupply mission alongside cargo and supplies. According to CNN Business, “five percent of astronaut time aboard the space station is currently allocated to commercial and marketing activities.” It is reported that Estée Lauder will pay $17,500 per hour for the never before done, first time ever beauty shoot in space. According to Estée Lauder, “The serum will be photographed in the space station’s iconic window to create images for use on Estée Lauder’s social media platforms,” according to a statement from Estée Lauder.
It seems like this photoshoot is purely for Instagram. Will it also be of use on other platforms? We shall see. However, we’re excited to see the results. For now, you can also shop the product here.
